Coatings

Anti-Corrosions Coating

Refer to a protection coating of a corrosion-resistant coating on a metal pipe to protect against physical damage and hostile environrnents These pipes are often submerged, buried in the ground or exposed without protection against the environment, and without a corrosion-resistant protection, the pipes may undergo considerable corrosion. To deal with this problem it is common to apply a corrision protection coating, typically an epoxy or polyethylene coating, to the pipes. Liberty Coating provides a wide variety of anti-corrosion coatings including it’s proprietary product PRITEC, Protecto 401, Carboguard 891, Endocor 745, Pipeliner SG, and Mill Lacquer.

Mechanical

The mechanical protection coating employs a cementitious material. By “cementitious material” it is meant inorganic calcium oxide cement based materials, such as cements, slag cements, and calcium aluminate cements. Preferably, although not necessarily, fibres are mixed with the cementitious material to improve its flexbility and to provide impact resistance. Impact is a serious problem for coating as pipes are likely to be damaged during handling, storage, preparation, transportation and installation. Rough handling with normal transporting equipment as well as banging pipes against one another will often impair the integrity of coatings. Coatings on overland pipes risk damage when placed in trenches through rough terrain and when backfilled with coarse material. Even during storage, many of these coatings can deteriorate simply by exposure to normal ultra-violet radiation. . Liberty Coating provides a wide variety of anti-corrosion coatings including it’s proprietary product PRITEC.

Internal Coatings:

Internal coatings for pipe are a cost effective means for both protecting the integrity of the pipe from corrosive elements of the agent being transported in the pipe and increasing the flow of that agent. The corrosive elements of the transported agent can not always be mitigated prior to flowing through the pipe, thus an internal protective coating is even more essential. The increase of flow provided by an internal coating can reduce the pumping efforts necessary for transporting a liquid or gas, thus decreasing processing costs. Additionally, internal coatings can further protect electrical and telecommunications cables contained in pipe which improves the investment in a project. Liberty Coating Company provides internal applications of: Protecto 401, Carboguard 891, Endocor 745, Pipeliner SG, and Mill Lacquer.

External Coatings:

External coatings for pipe are a standard method for protecting pipe integrity from the corrosive elements of the surrounding environment. This corrosive elements in the surrounding environment can include such factors as soil acidity, soil moisture content, sea or fresh water, air and ultra-violate light. Liberty Coating Company provides a wide variety of external coating applications including: PRITEC, Bitumastic 300M, Concrete and Mill Lacquer.

Directional Coating

There are a variety of processes for pipe coating applications. Directional coating is the cross-directional control of continuous coating processes, where the cross-direction refers to the direction perpendicular to the substrate movement. The objective is to maintain a uniform coating.
